I had a birthday this past Monday, and I celebrated it the way everyone should celebrate their 27th birthday (ugghhh 27)–prancing around a Victorian mansion.
I rounded up my ladies and went to a place that I can’t believe I haven’t already been to at least a dozen times, and a place that I wish I could stay forever–the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
So much fanciness, so much opulence, and so many portraits of men with epic mustaches. The place is dripping with antiques, artifacts, and treasures from eras gone by.
We stayed in the bridal suite, a room with so many small touches and such attention to detail–there were even antique perfume jars and pillboxes on the vanity.
Of course, we had to dress the part. My ruffled black dress and mini hat came from my favorite source for Gothic Lolita clothing–Fanplusfriend Garden.
My friend lounged across this ridiculously pillowed, shiny brocade bed in a vintage high-collared dress I received as a birthday gift (my friends know what’s up), while my other friend relaxed in our seating room, wearing a purple lace dress from Free People.
I’ll be back at this place again, no doubt, and by that I mean, I already have another reservation made for next month…
Victorian Punxxx!! What?
