Halloween Costume Fails and WTFs

Happy October everyone! We’re well on our way toward one of my favorite holidays, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve already started thinking about costumes. I’ll be offering ideas and inspiration throughout the month, both on here and on the FV Facebook and Twitter pages, but before I start sharing my costume faves, I wanted to take a look at a couple of WTF pieces and costume fails…

This is more WTF than fail. It’s just a somewhat strange, sort of half-assed costume that runs the risk of just looking like an abstract, asymmetrical dress if you don’t play it up with blood and gore. But then again, maybe it’s just a costume for the ladies who like to keep it cutesy on Halloween. And nothing’s cuter than being consumed by a muppety dragon…?

This was the first costume I came across that made me want to create this post. So, is this from something that I’m unaware of? If so, then it will make the fact that there are five different variations of this costume a little less strange to me. I live in a college town, so I can only hope to spot at least one tipsy college kid stumbling home from a party in one of these ripoff Monster’s Inc clownfests this year.

I get it, zombies are a thing. But, zombie fireperson…? And it’s not like it’s part of a series alongside a zombie cop or anything. Talk about arbitrary.

This…needs no explanation.

Is this one actually kind of cool? Yes. Nonetheless, is it still kind of creepy? Double yes. Do I have any idea how the hell a person can actually get around and function like a normal human in this costume? No, not at all.

This costume doesn’t so much look stupid (wait, maybe it does), but it’s just that I can’t for the life of my figure out what kind of person would consider this a good costume, and why. Is it supposed to be funny or witty? And what do you do with that huge, clunky mass of bills–just drag it around, tripping people, and being that person all night?

So what do you think–love em or hate em? And have you come across any even lamer costumes that you’d like to share?
