I was considering going to Otakon<\/a>–a big cosplay and anime convention in Baltimore, Maryland–but plans ended up changing and I’ll be sticking around my town. But instead of getting bummed about missing out on maid cafes and cross-dressing panels, my friends and I are having a cosplay dance party the day of. And really, so long as I have a reason to fashion some sort of grand outfit for the occasion, I’m pretty psyched about the alternative.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As I decide exactly what kind of outfit I’m going to put together, I’m looking to visual kei and j-rock kids for inspiration. For people who don’t know what visual kei is, I’d just say it’s like you put punk rock and goth in a blender, throw in a bit of deconstruction and chaos, and add just a touch of androgyny.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My plan is to construct some sort of chain and skull adorned face mask, sport my new wig (haven’t shown ya’ll yet), thrown on a pair of my Nox Hyde animal ears, and see what else I can whip up in the next week or so. And as always, I’ll show you what I come up with.<\/p>\n
